Ludwig Kaiser opened the show on RAW, where he introduced the new King of the Ring 2024, Gunther. Following a tense verbal confrontation with Damian Priest, The Ring General walked out after his former opponent appeared.
There is a big question mark around Gunther's King of the Ring victory as Randy Orton's shoulders were seemingly up when he was pinned. Damian Priest responded to criticism of his Money in the Bank cash-in, telling The Ring General that he needed to win the briefcase, to begin with. However, things changed when Drew McIntyre showed up.
When Drew McIntyre, the former opponent of Gunther appeared, The Ring General said nothing and simply walked out. The two men faced each other multiple times but their most notable encounter was at WrestleMania 39 for the Intercontinental Title in a Triple Threat Match also involving Sheamus.
It looks like the Imperium leader is going to have to be busy with other things for two months while the World Heavyweight Championship picture gets sorted out.
In three weeks at Clash at the Castle, Damian Priest will put his title on the line against Drew McIntyre. It's going to be an interesting clash because McIntyre will be the favorite heading into the bout in Glasgow, Scotland. However, there has been a shifting sentiment in favor of The Archer of Infamy, with many praising his brief time as World Champion.
Ultimately, there can only be one World Heavyweight Champion, and the scene is getting crowded with top competition very quickly.
