Brock Lesnar was a menacing force in WWE before his absence starting in 2023. Recently, Mustafa Ali recalled working with The Beast Incarnate in the Stamford-based promotion, especially the spot from Money in the Bank 2019.
In 2019, Brock Lesnar dominated the men's division in the Stamford-based promotion as he held the Universal and WWE Championship. One such reign occurred when he won the Money in the Bank briefcase and cashed it on Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship.
In an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, the 38-year-old star recalled his spot with Brock Lesnar at Money in the Bank 2019. The star explained The Beast Incarate's professionalism in the ring and how the spot went with the multi-time World Champion in the end.
"And I’m watching this, I’m like, he’s gonna murder me. I hope I’m not destroying the mystique of Brock here, but what a pro. Gets in the ring, grabs me, looks up to me. He’s like, ‘Hey, kid you ready?’ And I’m like yeah. Okay, nice and easy, one, two. And the thing is, he was so nice about the push that I was expecting this violent thing that I hurled myself off the ladder, and I end up hitting the top rope with my mouth, cutting my mouth completely my fault, and hurting myself, and I go down like he just pros pro man. I’m saying that, but you can see if you watch it back, if you cut to the clip of the guy. Eyes on the floor selling. They’re all very unamused that this match happened that way," Ali said. Mustafa Ali details how Brock Lesnar won the MITB briefcase at WWE Money in the Bank 2019
In 2019, Mustafa Ali received a big break in the Stamford-based company as he was scheduled to go up against Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship. However, an injury ruined those plans for Ali, as he was forced to go to the back of the line.
In the coming months, the 38-year-old star built momentum and was scheduled to win the Money in the Bank briefcase, which could have potentially restarted his run toward the WWE Championship. Unfortunately, plans changed at the last moment when Brock Lesnar returned to the company.
In the same interview, Ali stated the change was made during the entrances, and The Beast Incarnate was the surprise entrant for the match, who eventually won the briefcase in Hartford, Connecticut.
