Legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette has shared his thoughts on Shane McMahon possibly going to AEW to work with Tony Khan in an executive role. The WWE veteran doesn't think it'll ever happen.
The possibility of the former SmackDown Tag Team Champion appearing in All Elite Wrestling has been heavily discussed online among the wrestling community. Some people want to see it happen, while others think it'd be a bad idea. It was recently reported that Shane O'Mac held talks about the promotion with Mercedes Mone. Khan even stated that he's always welcome at AEW.
Speaking on the latest edition of the Jim Cornette Drive-Thru, the WWE veteran stated that Shane McMahon doesn't need to work as an executive in AEW. He doesn't see the latter making the jump to the promotion at all.
"No, no again, because Shane McMahon does not need to be an executive of a wrestling company owned and operated by a f***ing son of another billionaire that's goofier than a pet coon. No, he would not want to do that, especially at this time of his life, and to get into all that drama and haha. When he was 30, and he was in every department in Titan, that's because he thought he was going to take over the company one day," said Cornette. [3:00-3:35]
Jim Cornette on Shane McMahon possibly joining AEW as an in-ring competitor
The former Hardcore Champion has competed in numerous matches during his career. He made his in-ring return at WrestleMania 39, but the bout ended in disaster as he sustained an injury.
Jim Cornette doesn't think Shane McMahon will or should go to AEW to wrestle. He stated:
"No, Shane, at 50, whatever years old he is now, the way he went out last time if he's gonna wrestle, it would be for the WWE... If they (WWE) wouldn't have him, he's not going to do it. He's not gonna do it for another company, for a smaller company... I've always said I like Shane, and I've talked to Shane more just on purpose than the rest of the McMahon family. But he always had the same outlook kind of as Vince as they were in the major league... So it's not like he's going to say, 'I've got to have one more match and redeem myself, so I'll call Tony Khan and go to AEW.'" [1:30-2:40]
Shane McMahon's going to AEW would be a huge deal, as a member of his family has never worked in the competition before. It'll be interesting to see what pans out.
