WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn successfully defended his title against Bron Breakker at the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event in front of his hometown crowd recently. Now, a heartbreaking stat has come to light. Zayn has been signed with the Stamford-based promotion since 2013.
The 39-year-old started performing for the company's developmental brand where he won the NXT Championship. After jumping ship to the main roster, the former Bloodline member made a huge name for himself by winning several titles, including the Undisputed Tag Team Championship alongside Kevin Owens.
After defeating Bron at the PLE, Sami Zayn extended his current Intercontinental Championship reign to 95 days, which is surprisingly his longest singles title run ever in World Wrestling Entertainment.
Many feel it is a heartbreaking stat for Sami, seeing as he has been signed with WWE for over a decade and has always been a fan favorite, but has not crossed even the 100-day mark even once as a singles champion.
The 39-year-old has also proven his worth by elevating some of the biggest storylines in pro wrestling, including The Bloodline's story, in which his on-screen character work was heavily praised by fans and critics alike. It will be interesting to see what the Stamford-based promotion has planned for Zayn's Intercontinental Championship reign's future.
Vince Russo is not a fan of WWE possibly booking a Triple Threat match for Sami Zayn's Intercontinental Championship
During an edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo said that he believed WWE was booking matches without any build or storylines between stars.
Russo also mentioned that he was not a big fan of Sami Zayn potentially defending his Intercontinental Championship in a Triple Threat match against Bron Breakker and Ilja Dragunov.
"When I say there's no builds, there's no builds due to no stories. There's just no stories. They just keep having these matches. That's why it just doesn't feel like anything's important. What are they gonna do now? They're gonna have a three-way with Sami, Bron Breakker, and Dragunov? What's the story there?"

It remains to be seen if the WWE will book this Triple Threat match or go for some other variation to continue the story between Sami Zayn, Bron Breakker, and Ilja Dragunov.
