Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns - for two WrestleMania main events in a row - they've stood across the ring and are officially 1-1. While a trilogy of matches between the two might be inevitable, another huge future moment was teased on the SmackDown season premiere.
This week, the SmackDown premiere on USA Network opened with Triple H and then the first match of the night - the Steel Cage bout for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Cody Rhodes went to battle with Solo Sikoa and emerged victorious, telling him "We're done" after the match. However, The Bloodline was far from done with him.
After getting ambushed, The OTC Roman Reigns returned and made the save. While he got jumped too, the Reigns-Rhodes momentary alliance led to them clearing the ring. Even Solo held Jacob Fatu back despite Jacob wanting to go after Reigns. After that, a brief moment between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns teased a future alliance:
The events tonight made two of wrestling's biggest superpowers almost team up together. After the match, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis said that everybody was sent to their respective locker rooms to maintain a sense of order.
Not only that, but Aldis added that but Solo Sikoa reportedly pitched an idea that was too good to refuse.
So while Rhodes vs. Reigns 3 is inevitable, fans might see them standing side-by-side sooner.
