Bill Apter praised Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther from WWE Crown Jewel 2024
Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter spoke highly of the match between Cody Rhodes and Gunther at Crown Jewel 2024, claiming the contest was quite competitive.
The 79-year-old veteran revealed that he was glad Kevin Owens and Goldberg did not interfere in the match.
"Quite a competitive match and a very surprising end. Both gave their best efforts and I am glad no interference from Kevin Owens or Goldberg, as predicted, spoiled this main event. Classy aftermath with Gunther offering his hand to congratulate Cody, but hurling some inaudible words at the Undisputed, and now the initial male, Crown Jewel Champion. Gunther lost nothing by not winning this Crown Jewel title. He is still one of the most dominant talents ever in the modern era of pro wrestling," Bill Apter said.
Rhodes and Gunther have previously crossed paths on a couple of occasions during the Men's Royal Rumble Match in 2023 and 2024. Crown Jewel 2024 marked their first-ever singles match against each other.
Cody is set to feature in the upcoming edition of SmackDown. His next title challenger could be decided on the show. Amid his feud with The Ring General, Rhodes was also feuding with Kevin Owens, who turned heel after the Bad Blood 2024 Premium Live Event.
