On the Road to WrestleMania XL, WWE legend The Rock emerged as a significant obstacle in Cody Rhodes' quest to achieve his goal. While acknowledging The Great One's undeniable mic skills, The American Nightmare admitted that the Hollywood star crossed a line in one of his jabs during their promos.
After Rhodes won the 2024 Royal Rumble, Dwayne Johnson took his WrestleMania main event spot to wrestle his cousin Roman Reigns for the title. However, the 39-year-old star reclaimed his spot at the Kickoff Press Event in Las Vegas. Later, WWE fans witnessed The Final Boss taking brutal shots at Cody Rhodes during his promos.
On INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, The American Nightmare revealed a comment by The Rock on the March 8th, 2024, edition of Friday Night SmackDown that got under his skin. Dwayne Johnson listed all of Cody Rhodes' siblings except for his sister Teil, which bothered the Undisputed WWE Champion.
"Line wise, the only line I think he crossed was he made my sister Teil non-canon because he had mentioned that I had two other siblings and that being Dustin and Kristen who are from my dad’s first marriage, which is you know, you’re not wrong that I do have them, and he was explaining [that] when he called me a mistake. But he made Teil non-canon and Teil was like the closest I have. This is my original best friend. You know, so that was a little I felt bad. I felt bad for her," he said. [H/T - CVV]
Cody Rhodes reveals what happened after he won the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania
The 39-year-old overcame The Final Boss' "Bloodline Rules" challenge and dethroned Roman Reigns to become the Undisputed WWE Champion at this year's Showcase of the Immortals in Philadelphia.
During the same conversation with Chris Van Vliet, Cody Rhodes admitted feeling ecstatic after finally finishing the story at WrestleMania. However, The American Nightmare's focus quickly shifted to defending the championship and elevating its status:
"I was almost worried there’d be a sense of completion, this sense of fullness. I was genuinely concerned, like, well, story's over. But as soon as it was done, it felt like literally [I was] 10 feet tall, felt bulletproof, felt younger, felt faster, like I just didn’t feel grizzled at all, to the point where I thought, Oh, this is going to be a lot of fun. But what do we do next?"
As of now, Rhodes is most likely to defend his WWE Title at SummerSlam 2024 against Solo Sikoa, who has taken over The Bloodline in the absence of Roman Reigns.
