WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman appointed Vic Joseph as the lead commentator for RAW back in 2019. The latter explained why it didn't work out for him, and he described his stint as a failure.
The Wiseman served as the Executive Director of the red brand for a year from June 2019 to 2020. During the season premiere of RAW on September 30, 2019, Vic Joseph, Mason Madden, and Jerry Lawler were revealed as the new commentators for the show. Lawler and Madden are no longer in WWE while Joseph is currently doing commentary with Booker T in NXT.
During a recent appearance on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, Vic Joseph looked back on his RAW stint and explained why it didn't work out. He is still glad that Paul Heyman gave him the opportunity.
"I look at it as a failure because if it wasn’t a failure, I’d still be doing the show. That’s how I look at it and so, I didn’t do my job and because I didn’t do my job up to the ability of certain individuals, they had to make a decision. I thank Paul Heyman for giving me that opportunity. I just saw Paul recently at Raw and we always go back-and-forth and I always pick his brain but he always tells me,‘Hey, just remember, you didn’t fail. It just was a bad situation.’ I look at it a little bit differently because I’m always a little bit harder on myself," said Joseph.

He added:
"What I’ve taken the most from it is people listening go, ‘Man, that’s smooth. You’ve gotten so much better.’ I had to or I wouldn’t be here and then that’s just the honest to God’s truth about it and so I took a lot from that Raw run that-that had to happen for me to get to where I am now. It had to happen."
Paul Heyman could return to WWE soon now that Roman Reigns is back
The Wise Man has not been seen on WWE TV since he was taken out by The Bloodline on an episode of SmackDown. He was kicked out of the villainous group by Solo Sikoa, the leader. Roman Reigns has been back since SummerSlam, and he had a match last Saturday at Bad Blood.
The OTC is set to appear on tonight's episode of SmackDown. Jimmy Uso came back as well, so it's possible that Paul Heyman is also on his way back. However, the date of his return is currently unknown.
