A two-time WWE Hall of Famer has revealed that he's not interested in retiring from in-ring competition. It's been more than a year since the legendary wrestler performed inside the squared circle.
Booker T. last wrestled at the 2023 Royal Rumble Match, where he was a surprise entrant. The erstwhile King Booker was in the ring for just 42 seconds and was quickly eliminated by Gunther.
In an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the 59-year-old legend was asked about his in-ring future and if he planned to hang up his boots. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion admitted that he wouldn't ever retire and would be open to wrestling again for his Reality of Wrestling promotion or in Saudi Arabia.
"Well, I'm never gonna retire. I'm definitely gonna get back in the ring at some point in time to do something. But it's gonna be here, in Reality of Wrestling or in Saudi [laughs]," Booker said. [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]
Booker T. mainly ceased being a full-time wrestler after April 2012. He has sporadically appeared at Reality of Wrestling over the years but has mainly worked as a color commentator for NXT.
In addition to his work as a commentator, the former WCW World Champion runs his wrestling school in Houston, which has produced stars such as Roxanne Perez. He has also trained Zilla Fatu, the son of the late Umaga.
Booker T. is not interested in another WWE Royal Rumble match
As mentioned above, Booker T.'s last in-ring appearance in WWE came at the 2023 Men's Royal Rumble Match. When asked by Chris Van Vliet about possibly doing another Royal Rumble Match, the two-time Hall of Famer revealed that he was done with the gimmick match for good.
"You know, I think that spot was a great swan song for me doing it at that time; it was one of those unexpected entries. It was a moment; it’s kind of hard to really create those moments, duplicate those kinds of moments, and replicate them. So I think Rumble, for me, I’m not looking to do anymore," Booker said. Booker T. was initially inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a singles performer in 2013. Six years later, the veteran was again inducted into the prestigious club alongside his real-life brother, Stevie Ray, as part of the Harlem Heat.
