Sami Zayn has commented on the idea of bringing back the classic white leather WWE Intercontinental Championship. Zayn is a four-time Intercontinental Champion.

The 40-year-old superstar has had multiple highs and lows in 2024. At WrestleMania XL, he defeated Gunther to win the Intercontinental Championship, ending The Ring General's 666-day reign. The Underdog from The Underground eventually lost the title to Bron Breakker at SummerSlam. Sami is currently feuding with Drew McIntyre and is still involved in the OG Bloodline's feud with the New Bloodline.

On the Battleground Podcast, Zayn recalled Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, and Mr. Perfect holding the classic Intercontinental Championship. The white leader title has been previously revived on WWE TV, including by Cody Rhodes in 2011.

“I know a lot of folks, I’m probably not unique in saying this, but a lot of folks have an affinity for that early 90s Intercontinental Championship, the classic one that you think of Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart and Mr Perfect. A lot of people have an affinity for that,” he said. [H/T: SEScoops]

Sami Zayn comments on Kevin Owens using the Package Piledriver

Kevin Owens has been on a rampage since turning heel at Bad Blood 2024. The Prizefighter has used a banned WWE move, the Package Piledriver, on Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton in recent months. Rhodes and Orton have since been out of action.

Meanwhile, in the same interview on the Battleground Podcast, Sami Zayn admitted it was quite "crazy" to see the move on WWE television. He said:

"I mean, pretty crazy to see the Package Piledriver on WWE TV, first and foremost. I feel like I used to take that move a lot. My neck is not so good nowadays, and it's probably better that I haven't taken that move in a long time. It was almost like seeing a ghost. You know what? I mean, it was very strange, like a memoir of a past life. For me, personally, just seeing that was kind of a bit of a surreal moment."

Sami Zayn could reignite his feud with KO, who certainly won't be pleased with his former tag team partner reuniting with the OG Bloodline.
