Booker T's wife and WWE Hall of Famer Sharmell has finally opened up about their controversial storyline with Kurt Angle in 2005. It was a storyline that would certainly not make it to television today.
Angle and Booker T began a feud after colliding in a Fatal Four-Way Match to determine the number one contender for the WWE Championship. It led to a short rivalry, wherein the Olympian wanted to make love with Sharmell.
In an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Sharmell opened up about the storyline and gave her thoughts on it.
"Kurt was stalking me. Because I was so new at that time. I don’t even know. It’s just like, you know, they were like, Okay, here’s what you’re doing. Okay. I don’t know who came up with any of that. But I thought it was brilliant. Everybody’s real touchy right now in this day and age. But it didn’t bother me. I thought it was great. It was interesting, but I don’t know if you could get away with that."
She surprisingly enjoyed working with Angle but admitted that it would be too controversial for today's societal climate.
"In this day and age. Everybody’s like, no, we can’t do that. It wouldn’t fly, but because I knew it was acting, you know what I mean? Now, there are some serious situations out there that are like that and I don’t condone that at all, but when it was acting it was okay for me, that’s just me," Sharmell added. The story ended after just one match, with Booker T getting the win at Judgment Day and Sharmell kicking Kurt Angle in his private parts.
Sharmell shares her favorite Booker T moment
In the same interview with Chris Van Vliet, Sharmell explained her favorite moment involving her husband, Booker T. She had a couple on her mind, which was the grocery fight with Stone Cold Steve Austin and any segment involving Booker and Goldust.
"So the grocery store with Steve Austin, all that stuff was Steve Austin, you know, the bingo game, the nuns, like, Oh, my goodness. And then the stuff with Goldust. It's just hilarious. Right? So yeah, I'm equally a fan of his entertainment as well as his wrestling," Sharmell said. [H/T chrisvanvliet.com]
The couple has been married since 2005 and has two children together, Kendrick and Kennedy.
