WWE may not allow John Cena to achieve a major feat before he retires from professional wrestling, according to veteran Jonathan Coachman. The Cenation Leader has hinted that he will hang up his wrestling boots soon.
Cena is one of the biggest names in World Wrestling Entertainment. The 16-time World Champion has achieved everything in the pro wrestling world. Since transitioning to Hollywood, the veteran has been putting over younger talents whenever he returns to the Stamford-based promotion.
The 47-year-old lost to The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa in his last one-on-one match at the 2023 Crown Jewel Premium Live Event. Many fans want John Cena to return to TV soon to win his 17th WWE World Title before he eventually retires from active competition.
During an edition of The Angle Podcast, wrestling veteran Jonathan Coachman said WWE would not let Cena win another world title to break Ric Flair's record. Coachman explained that The Cenation Leader seemingly knew that his physique was not the same as before, and that could be the reason why the Triple H-led company would not put the belt on him.
"I don’t want this to come off as disrespectful, because at some point I’m going to run into Ric Flair, and he takes this stuff very personally. I could be a 17x World Champion if they so chose to give it to me, so to me that record means nothing. The kind of person he is, the way he went about it, the way he trained every single day. I really don’t care. If it means something to him, then I do care. I think John Cena realizes his body is beat up, and he could only look that good for so long, to go out there with the wrinkles on his muscles and veins kind of popping out. Will they give it to him, I doubt it," he said. [H/T: Ringside News]
John Cena said his journey with WWE was coming to an end
During an interview with People Magazine, John Cena mentioned that he would try to stay fit as long as he was alive, but his professional wrestling career with World Wrestling Entertainment would end soon.
"I know my WWE journey is coming to an end, but fitness was a part of my life long before the WWE journey started. Fitness will be a part of my life, hopefully as long as my heart's beating. So the WWE has been a great chapter in my life—it's year 23 for me—and the sun's setting on that chapter in the book, but fitness will never not be a part of my life."
It will be interesting to see if The Cenation Leader will break Ric Flair's record to become a 17-time World Champion before his retirement.
