Austin Theory's win over John Cena at WrestleMania 39 may have been intended by WWE as a passing of the torch moment, but the former United States Champion was not accepted by fans. He is considered by a section of viewers as a flop. Be that as it may, in the past year, Theory has managed to improve vastly and gain some validation.
His tag team partner Grayson Waller believes the "idiots" who do not see him as a star will start to eventually because according to Waller, Austin Theory will one day carry WWE.
Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, The Aussie Icon expressed gratitude for having Austin Theory as a tag team partner on WWE's main roster. He went on to praise the former United States Champion, noting that there is a reason the latter always gets to work with the sports entertainment giant's top stars:
"I'm grateful for Austin Theory," Grayson Waller began. "That's a great tag partner. That's one of the most underrated performers in the industry. I don't think people understand that, but they will. Austin Theroy has everything it takes to be the biggest guy in the company. There's a reason he is always in there with Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins and John Cena. And if you idiots don't get that, you will one day. [From 1:06:50 onwards]

Theory and Waller won SmackDown's tag team titles at WrestleMania XL in April. They continue to perform in the blue brand's tag team division.
John Cena reflects on controversial promo segment with Austin Theory ahead of WrestleMania 39
Although John Cena lost on the grand spectacle to Austin Theory, fans did not buy it. Their sole in-ring promo ahead of the event on WWE RAW did not help matters either, as Cena destroyed him.
Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet earlier this year, John Cena was asked about the controversial promo segment. The 16-time World Champion believes Theory has potential, but the latter is not there yet. He also added that he only did so that the former United States Champion would learn things sooner:
"I was really close to the chest with Austin Theory when we were able to go back and forth verbally. I see so much potential in him, and I wanna shake him and be like, 'You're gonna learn all this stuff. I just wish you would learn it today,'" Cena said.

Cena's fellow veteran Randy Orton echoed a similar sentiment of Grayson Waller's recently, praising the young stalwart for not falling into the typical pitfalls of rising athletes. Orton claimed that Theory, 27, is in a much better place than he was at this age.
