Ilja Dragunov defeats Sami Zayn in an Intercontinental Championship match on WWE RAW

Ilja Dragunov challenged Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship on the latest episode of WWE RAW. The match took place in the main event of the show.

It was revealed in a backstage segment that Sami gave The Mad Dragon the title shot, as he believed that the latter had earned it. Bron Breakker was not happy with this at all, as he wanted another match for the belt even though he lost at Money in the Bank.

Sami Zayn hit Ilja Dragunov with a chop in the corner during their match on RAW. Ilja hit a chop of his own and the two stars traded blows in the middle of the ring. The Underdog from the Underground took out Dragunov with a moonsault at ringside. Ilja nailed Sami with the Constantine Special and hit the latter with a boot to the face in the corner.

Sami Zayn hit a clothesline and a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two-count. The Mad Dragon nailed his opponent with a big boot and a suplex. Sami hit an exploder in the corner and went for the Helluva Kick but ran into a boot. Bron Breakker came out during the match and went for the running Spear but Sami avoided it and Breakker took out Ilja.

The referee immediately called for the bell. Since Ilja Dragunov was attacked first, he won the match via DQ, but not the title. Breakker then nailed Zayn with a Spear in the ring after speeding off the ropes.
