Hall of Fame wrestling journalist Bill Apter recently discussed how fans could react to WWE bringing back Brock Lesnar. The 47-year-old star has been away from the company for over a year at this point.
Brock Lesnar was reportedly penned down to be involved in Royal Rumble earlier this year, working up to WrestleMania XL. However, WWE scrapped all plans for Lesnar after details of Janel Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon surfaced online. The company seemingly distanced itself from The Beast and even stopped mentioning his name on TV.
On a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Bill Apter said the internet wrestling community comprised a vocal fanbase that might raise concerns if Lesnar returned to the ring. The Hall of Fame journalist expressed doubts over how welcoming internet fans would be of The Beast if he were to return to WWE.
"The internet community, no matter how much the people inside the business may be, 'Ah, you know, it's died down right now.' But the internet community is not going to let it die down. That is the real stickler in this whole Brock Lesnar scenario." [From 9:09 onwards]
Lesnar's last match was at SummerSlam 2023, where he put over Cody Rhodes in a hellacious battle. It will be interesting to see whether WWE and The Beast can reach an agreement to have him return for a few more matches.
