The rivalry in WWE between CM Punk and Seth Rollins has progressed from hot to explosive over the last few weeks. However, a veteran thinks the two need to be handled more strictly in bookings.
According to WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long, the booking for their latest segment was not exactly perfect. The Second City Saint and the Visionary recently got into a heated brawl on RAW, which led to security guards coming out to separate them. Their animosity resulted in the brawl continuing for quite some time despite the best efforts of others to stop it.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, hosted by Mac Davis, the WWE Hall of Famer expressed his thoughts on how the segment should have turned out.
"When I see something that could be better, it bothers me. So I am saying I would have liked to see maybe two real strong pull-parts, ok? Now, after you do that, when they go to do that third one, here comes the GM... Adam Pearce comes down, and he puts a foot down and let these two guys know, 'Listen, one more thing and you are suspended, or either you are out or whatever,'" Long said. [1:20 onwards]
Another veteran thinks USA Network is unhappy with WWE
While the spot between CM Punk and Seth Rollins was fine for Vince Russo, he thinks the promotion of Netflix on the show was not agreeable to USA Network.
Speaking on Legion of RAW, he explained his thought process.
"So here you got USA Network, and WWE is making this an infomercial on January 6 on Netflix. I'm pretty much confident that USA Network doesn't want to drive fans to Netflix on Monday Night. It's very interesting because they have a brawl and what do you do? You come back, and you promote the match on Netflix. But something very interesting. They go later on to the back, and Cathy Kelley says, 'RAW premieres on Netflix.' They muted it. The USA Network muted Netflix. That speaks volumes. That tells you they are not happy with WWE making it a promotional show for Netflix," Russo noted.
As of now, the rivalry between the two ends remains to be seen.
