Wrestling veteran and former writer Vince Russo recently spoke about Jesse Ventura's return to WWE TV this week. The legendary star was part of the broadcast team for Saturday Night's Main Event.
It was a memorable moment for WWE as Jesse "The Body" Ventura took charge of hosting Saturday Night's Main Event alongside Joe Tessitore. The 73-year-old legend mentioned he was back on broadcasting duty after four decades.
This week on Vince Russo's The Brand, the former writer pointed out that Ventura looked out of sorts during his initial segments on the show. He felt it was awesome that the legendary wrestler-turned-announcer was back in WWE. However, Russo felt WWE had given Jesse a script to stick to. He noted that The Body did much better during the main event after he settled in.
"It was a little weird man. We bring Jesse out at the top and that is awesome, absolutely awesome. But my God, the first time Jesse spoke, he was scripted. And you could tell Jesse was scripted. And Jesse was also a little nervous early on in that first segment. But once he got into the show a little bit, he was back to being Jesse. But yeah, man, you could tell he was a little nervous, even scripted at the beginning." [From 11:10 - 11:41]

Jesse Ventura was on commentary during the main event
This week, Jesse Ventura joined Michael Cole and Pat McAfee on commentary during the main event of Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens.
Ventura looked stellar with his boa and snakeskin jacket. He even remarked that the snakeskin was from Damien, Jake "The Snake" Roberts' pet snake.
The Body put in his best work with some great color commentary reminiscent of his time behind the mic in the 80s. He berated Cody Rhodes on commentary and even justified Kevin Owens' actions from time to time.
It was refreshing to see how Jesse Ventura complimented Cole and McAfee and held his own throughout the match.
