Chad Gable has been involved in several tag teams and factions during his WWE career. In a recent interview, Madman Fulton reflected on what happened after his stable with Gable failed to materialize.
Fulton, fka Sawyer Fulton, worked for WWE between 2012 and 2017. The 34-year-old became tag team partners with Alexander Wolfe in 2016 and joined the SAnitY group alongside Eric Young and Nikki Cross. Before that, he appeared at live events in a faction with Gable, Angelo Dawkins, Jason Jordan, and Tucker Knight.
On Developmentally Speaking, Fulton said the group's sudden separation led to his brief tag team partnership with Street Profits member Dawkins:
"We were just this group of bada** amateur wrestlers. It didn't take off very well. But Gable and Jordan became a very successful tag team, and Angelo Dawkins and I became a tag team out of that, and then that kind of led to the match where I broke out and really impressed Triple H in a match against Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake. Those two dudes made me look like a million bucks, and it showed." [22:57 – 23:28]
Chad Gable and Jason Jordan became one of NXT's most popular tag teams. Known as American Alpha, they held the NXT Tag Team Championship before winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championship on the main roster.
Madman Fulton on the aftermath of his alliance with Chad Gable
During his first three years in NXT, Madman Fulton mostly performed as an enhancement talent. Once his alliance with Chad Gable ended, the six-foot-eight star was paired up with Alexander Wolfe at an NXT event one day.
Fulton added that Performance Center coach Norman Smiley liked the look of the tag team and wanted to see more of them together:
"One day I think a couple of guys were sick and they just randomly put me together with Alexander Wolfe against The Hype Bros [Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder]. We came to the back and Norman Smiley looked at me, he was like, 'This could work.' He's like, 'This looks good. You guys have great chemistry,' and that started the whole next deal with the version of SAnitY that you ended up seeing." [23:49 – 24:15]
Due to a pectoral injury, Fulton was removed from SAnitY and replaced by Killian Dain after just two months. He received his release from WWE in November 2017 and has since worked for MLW and TNA.
