WWE legend JBL apparently has heat with a veteran since the turn of the century. The veteran in question, Vince Russo, recently explained his thoughts on the reason for the feud.
Back in 1997, JBL and Barry Windham had teamed up to form The New Blackjacks. However, the duo did not find much success in terms of fan reception. At that time, Vince Russo had been the head writer for the Stamford-based promotion and had apparently not favored booking The New Blackjacks further after their poor reception.
On Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, the WWE veteran explained that this had caused conflict between him and JBL, which still persists.
"When I took over, he was doing The New Blackjacks with... Barry Windham. I had to pull him and Windham aside and say guys, this is not getting over. The new Blackjack gimmick was not getting over. And rather than me play wrestling political games, I called these two guys in, and I said guys, I am just gonna shoot straight with you. This is not getting over. I don't see this getting over in this era. And from that moment on, Chris, the dude had a problem with me." [00:36 onwards]

The WWE veteran also bashed John Cena's recent comments
At the RAW Netflix premiere episode on January 6, John Cena came out to remind fans that 2025 will be the year when he will be retiring.
In his promo, Cena also teased a potential title run. However, according to Vince Russo, it was just a false claim to try to garner audience attention.
Speaking on Legion of RAW, the WWE veteran stated:
"If you're standing there saying there's no way I'm gonna be able to win this, that, and the other thing, but it's a farewell tour. What is a farewell tour? It is a money grab. I can definitely see the connection there."
