Pro wrestling security guard “Jersey” Joe Wilchak has unfortunately passed away. The veteran security official served across several promotions to ensure the safety and enjoyment of wrestlers and fans. On September 28, 2024, he passed away shortly after entering hospice.

Joe Wilchak was fighting a bad case of lung cancer for a long time. According to PWInsider, he passed away at 7:28 PM in Florida. The strong and hardworking official from Atlas Security had worked at Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in its prime days. Apart from the turbulent crowds of that promotion, he also worked for Ring of Honor, among other companies.

Wilchak had retired from his job and became a cyclist after moving to the state of Florida. The pro wrestling community has been hit by a great shock following his demise. Several wrestlers from WWE and other promotions have come forward and thanked the man who dedicated himself to being a shield between fans and talent for so many years.

One such person is tag team specialist and WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray. The Dudley Boy added a post on X to send a prayer for him and thank him for his service.

“GOD BLESS and RIP Joe Wilchak and thanks for always having our back. 🙏🏽”

We at Sportskeeda Wrestling send our condolences and best wishes to the friends and family of "Jersey" Joe at this time.
