John Cena's WWE run in 2025 will be his last. Cena recently revealed that he has committed to around 30-40 dates next year.

Many believe Cena has earned the right to break the all-time record and win his 17th World Championship in WWE. But perhaps nobody has thought about him winning the first belt he ever won in the company for the last time. It is currently in possession of The Megastar, LA Knight.

During the Fanatics Fest NYC, Knight opened up about his former tag team partner John Cena and the latter's upcoming Farewell Tour. He speculated that Cena would want to win the United States Championship "one more time" before retirement, and added that he is game if the GOAT is:

"Former tag partners. You never know. He [John Cena] might want to come back and get this United States Championship one more time—a guy who has been a staple for this championship. I would field that challenge, for sure. With him being my tag partner, I might just know him a little bit. You talk about the greatest of all time and what some might call the future," Knight said. John Cena made his WWE debut in 2002 and the first title run he had was with the United States Championship, which he won by defeating Big Show at WrestleMania XX. Cena has held the US Title four times in his career and one of the iconic reigns came in 2015, when he began his U.S Open Challenge.

Cena and LA Knight worked together to take on The Bloodline in the fall of 2023 in a winning effort. The duo defeated Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso at Fastlane. This match took place a few weeks after Cena donned the role of Special Guest Referee for Knight's match against The Miz at Payback.

John Cena will retire from in-ring competition after his WWE Farewell Tour in 2025

By December 2025, John Cena will have completed his final run in WWE. He has reiterated repeatedly in the last few weeks that, unlike a typical "wrestling retirement," which is when a wrestler ends their full-time career only to return for a one-off or as a part-timer down the line, Cena will be done for good.

During an interview with the Association Press recently, the 16-time World Champion said:

"It's not like, for lack of a better term, it's not a wrestling retirement. I'm not going away for a few years and then coming back. When I'm done in December [2025], I'm done. And there isn't a check-writer around who could write a check big enough to change my mind. I've built a great rapport with the WWE fans, love me or hate me, I think we have a trusting authentic rapport and my word isn't, there's no price to break that," he said.

There can be a scenario in which LA Knight defends the US Title against John Cena in 2025. But there needs to be one where Cena steps into the ring with Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Warrior seems adamant to "get that match."
