John Cena is considered a WWE lifer but could soon receive an open invitation to appear for TNA. Joe Hendry recently teased the idea while addressing his upcoming match.

WWE and TNA have been working together lately, but there was a time when the former IMPACT Wrestling was seen as direct competition to the sports entertainment juggernaut.

One of its rising stars, Joe Hendry, has been gearing up for his first shot at the TNA World Championship. At Bound For Glory on October 26, the Scottish wrestler will challenge Nic Nemeth for the coveted prize.

Ahead of the biggest match of his career, Hendry spoke to Sports Central LA, where he talked about inviting John Cena to TNA Wrestling should he win the title this Saturday.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

“Let’s put it this way. If I can get my hands on the TNA World Championship, what kind of champion would I be if I didn’t invite John Cena to cross the line into TNA Wrestling? That’s just hypothetical," Hendry said. [H/T: Fightful]

Joe Hendry shares an interesting John Cena story

Joe Hendry had previously expressed his desire to get in the ring with The Cenation Leader.

In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Hendry recalled the time when he received a call from Cena through his friend.

"When I was 15 years old, there was a wrestling show. I'd never been to a live wrestling show before. I wanted to go, I couldn't go. My friend went; he got the VIP package, and my phone rings; answer the phone. It's my friend Kyle's phone, but the person that answered said, 'Yo, it's your boy, John Cena.' My friend asked [John] Cena, 'Look, my friend couldn't make it, but could you call him?' And [John] Cena talked to me for five-ten minutes while there was a huge queue at this VIP thing because my friend told him that I couldn't make it. So [John] Cena was the first pro wrestler I ever talked to," he said.

The 47-year-old WWE Superstar's impending retirement tour is expected to kick off during RAW's debut on Netflix starting January 6, 2025.
