Can John Cena take advantage of Hollywood's current state to emerge as an even bigger star?
It's no secret that Hollywood is arguably in its weakest state in decades. With major big budget films flopping on a regular basis, there seems to be a sentiment in general pop culture that the era of the celebrity is over.
This sentiment seemed to have risen mainly during the pandemic, and it isn't like the eras of the past where any media that's celebrity-related garners a lot of fanfare. Even award shows that were highly-touted before don't seem to have the same mainstream relevance they used to.
The Rock, who was undoubtedly one of the biggest movie stars in the 2010s, seems to be getting knocked down a few pegs by the general public after reports emerged about various issues during filming. There were also reports that he has a contract specifically stating that he can't lose fights in movies.
Batista, on the other hand, is quietly building up his reputation as a versatile actor willing to take on all sorts of projects - from small to big. Unlike The Rock, he also appears to be willing to take on various kinds of roles.
John Cena hasn't quite hit that level of versatility yet, but he isn't in the same Hollywood anymore that has a specific set of actors at the top. With Hollywood poised to change amidst all the negativity in the recent years, Cena could also emerge as one of the big new stars.
It's going to be interesting to see how his acting career goes after his final WWE run in 2025.
