John Cena has a positive relationship with everyone in the locker room. The 16-time World Champion has been part of several iconic WrestleMania moments throughout his celebrated career. However, one of his Mania opponents has a special place for him in his list of rivals and he recently detailed all the things he had learned from Cena.
This is none other than The Miz, who has recently been elevated to the status of a WWE legend following the release of his docuseries episode produced by A&E TV. The A-Lister appeared on the SHAK Wrestling Podcast and spoke to host journalist Shakiel Mahjouri. When he was told about the compliment John Cena paid him, Miz mentioned all the things he'd learned from him in his career.
“I don't think anyone understands how much John Cena has taught me in a WWE ring. Like, and not only inside, but outside the ring as well,” The Miz said. [4:34 - 4:45]
The Miz also praised Cena’s dedication to all of his projects and his Hollywood career. The A-lister noted how invested "Mr. Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect" was in the creation of even the smallest of moments. Lastly, he also mentioned that Cena’s appreciation was proof that he has been doing everything right in his career.
“You always try to create a moment that people talk about. And Cena is incredible at that and I've learned a lot from him. And the fact that he made time for my documentary means the world to me because you know how much time he's literally spent with me. Teaching me how to become a top-caliber superstar and I hope I have done his teachings justice, and that comment right there made me feel like I have and that's the world." [5:34 - 6:10]
The Miz would "selfishly" take another chance to work with John Cena
In the same interview, when asked if he would like to fight Cena in the final year of his career, The A-Lister said he definitely would.
“I am putting my name in the hat of all people that want to face John Cena, be beside John Cena. Because selfishly, I've been in the ring a lot with John Cena, and selfishly, I'd want more," he said. [7:51 - 8:13]
The Miz also said that while he wants to wrestle Cena again, he would like some of the younger talents to get that chance, too, so that they could learn from the best just the way he did and carry that energy forward.
It would be interesting to see if The Miz faces Cena again before The Cenation Leader hangs up his boots next year.
