Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa defended the WWE Tag Team Championship against A-Town Down Under's Austin Theory and Grayson Waller on the latest episode of SmackDown. It was a rematch from last week's show, where the titles changed hands.
Theory sent Johnny Gargano into the barricade during the match while Waller hit Ciampa with a few strikes in the corner. The Aussie star tagged in the former United States Champion, who nailed Tommaso Ciampa with a stomp on his arm. The latter countered a dive into a jumping knee and made the hot tag. Johnny Gargano entered the ring and attacked both members of A-Town Down Under.
He hit them with a DDT at the same time and nailed Austin Theory with a springboard spear for a two-count. Ciampa tagged back in and hit Theory with a kick. When he covered Theory, Waller planted Tommaso Ciampa with a facebuster. The former champions attempted DIY's Meat in the Middle move but were unsuccessful.
DIY performed a Shatter Machine and followed it up with their double-team finishing move to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship. Their first title defense was successful. It'll be interesting to see which team will challenge them next.
