Carmelo Hayes' rise in WWE has been astronomical in recent weeks. After starting his career in NXT, it didn't take him long to capture the North American Championship. After losing the title, he continued to rise in popularity and eventually won the NXT Championship from Bron Breakker. He lost it to Ilja Dragunov.
Melo's NXT run impressed the WWE higher-ups as he moved to WWE SmackDown during the recently concluded Draft. Moreover, he was a first-round draft pick, showing how much the Stamford-based promotion believes in Hayes.

Tonight on SmackDown, Cathy Kelley interviewed LA Knight. While the latter was discussing his upcoming match against Tama Tonga, Carmelo Hayes interrupted him and asked him to welcome him to the blue brand since he is the number one draft pick.
Knight then pointed out that no one remembers the number one pick the year Tom Brady was drafted in the NFL. Hayes then spoke about his match, saying after he beats Randy Orton, the most dangerous letters in WWE will be HIM.

If ever given a chance to change a storyline, Sunil would have booked Roman Reigns to end The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak instead of Brock Lesnar. According to him, The Tribal Chief needed the victory more than Brock Lesnar, as the latter was already an established performer when he defeated ‘Taker. He would’ve also made that as Taker’s final match.
