LA Knight's next challenger for the United States Championship was determined in what was essentially a #1 contender's match on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. Andrade collided with Carmelo Hayes for the fifth time, and the winner got the title match.
Melo and El Idolo had two wins against each other before their latest encounter. During the bout, Andrade took down Hayes with a moonsault onto the floor. Carmelo kicked his opponent at ringside and hit him with a chop. Andrade performed a kick of his own and tried to do a moonsault off the barricade but Carmelo Hayes planted him on the floor with a Spanish Fly.
Back in the ring, Andrade went for another moonsault, but Melo got his knees up. The latter planted him on the mat with a facebuster and got a two-count. Carmelo Hayes went for Nothing But Net, but he missed. Andrade was setting up The Message but he spiked Melo with a Canadian Destroyer instead. Finally, he nailed Melo with his finisher off the turnbuckle and won the match.
Next week on WWE SmackDown, it'll be LA Knight vs. Andrade for the United States Championship. It'll be interesting to see whether El Idolo will dethrone LA Knight to recapture the US Title.
