It has recently been announced that LA Knight will defend his United States Championship against Carmelo Hayes on WWE SmackDown. The Megastar took to social media to share that he was going to embarrass the latter during the match.
Last week on the blue brand, AJ Styles returned to WWE. He was involved in an in-ring segment, which was interrupted by Carmelo Hayes. The Phenomenal One challenged him to a match, but he refused. The US Champ then came out and told Melo that he'd give him a title shot if he defeated Styles. Hayes won the bout via referee stoppage, and he's now the #1 contender for the coveted title.
LA Knight tweeted on X that Greenville will get to watch him embarrass Carmelo Hayes up close and personal on SmackDown and that there's no better way to spend a Friday night.
"Greenville gets to watch me embarrass @Carmelo_WWE up close and personal. No better way to spend a Friday night in my opinion…YEAH," he wrote.

WWE veteran Vince Russo thinks Triple H is failing LA Knight with his booking
The last time The Megastar competed in a premium live event was at SummerSlam, where he defeated Logan Paul to capture the United States Championship.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's BroDown, Vince Russo stated that Triple H is letting LA Knight down, and he's afraid the latter might become stale.
"LA Knight is a very very talented performer but if they don’t have a story for him, it’s gonna get old and it’s gonna get stale. That to me is what’s happening to him and it’s on him. LA does not write the show bro. He’s depending on Hunter [Triple H], depending on creative. They need to feed him material. If they don’t feed him material, it’s gonna get stale," said Russo.
Carmelo Hayes hasn't won a title yet since arriving on the main roster. It'll be interesting to see whether the 30-year-old will be crowned the new United States Champion on SmackDown this week.
