A biopic about two-time WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan is no longer in the works. According to legendary wrestling reporter Bill Apter, The Hulkster's political remarks might have something to do with the plans being scrapped.

Todd Phillips, the director of Joker and Joker: Folie à Deux, wanted to create a movie about Hogan's life. However, the American filmmaker told Variety last week that the project "is not going to come together." It was also confirmed recently that Artists Equity will produce a movie about Hogan's infamous lawsuit against Gawker.

Apter discussed the latest Hogan news on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine. He speculated that Phillips nixed the biopic due to the wrestling legend openly supporting United States presidential candidate Donald Trump:

"I think the Gawker thing is too well known already," Apter said. "I think it's been on TMZ, it's been on Inside Edition, it's been on all these shows. Personally, I think the reason that he's pulling back on this is because of all the things that are happening with Hulk Hogan in the news right now. I think people will go after him [Todd Phillips] on the internet for having anything to do with producing anything with Hulk Hogan at this point. That's his own choice, but I think that's what it's all about at this point." [5:54 – 6:28]

Bill Apter on Hulk Hogan's outspoken comments

On July 18, Hulk Hogan went viral after tearing his shirt off during a pro-Donald Trump speech at the Republican National Convention. Since then, he has come under scrutiny for comments about US Vice President Kamala Harris during his Real American Beer tour.

Although he is friends with Hogan, Bill Apter thinks the former WCW and WWE star should be more selective with what he says about politics:

"It's not good things. He's plugging the Real American Beer, but out of that things are happening where he's saying things that are inciting people, and I feel bad about it because he's Hulk Hogan, he's a personal friend that I've known forever, and he's gotta watch what he says." [6:54 – 7:12]

In a recent exclusive interview with Apter, Hogan addressed speculation that he could run for President one day.
