Nasty Boys member Jerry Sags recently opened up about his friendship with the team's former in-ring rivals Rick and Scott Steiner.
On October 27, 1990, The Steiner Brothers defeated Sags and Brian Knobbs at NWA Halloween Havoc to retain the United States Tag Team Championship. The 15-minute match was widely viewed as one of the best on the show.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Sags said booker Ole Anderson gave the two teams creative freedom before the event:
"All that was done on our own. We shot that angle. It exploded. People saw that on TV. It was the most anticipated match, and then we had that match and that's one of the greatest matches we ever did. Ever since then, Rick and Scott have been two of our best friends in life, two of our best friends since we got over together like that. It was a match made in heaven between us two. I don't think either of us as a tag team reached that kind of level [again]." [6:50 – 7:28]

Why Rick and Scott Steiner mean so much to Jerry Sags
The Nasty Boys went on to work for WWE between 1990 and 1993. They feuded with several big-name tag teams during that time, including The Hart Foundation and The Legion of Doom.
Jerry Sags believes the match with Rick and Scott Steiner set The Nasty Boys up to succeed in WWE:
"Us wrestling The Hart Foundation at WrestleMania 7, yeah, that's one of the greatest moments of our career. But what got us to that level and those great matches with Hawk and Animal [The Legion of Doom] and all the greatest tag teams was by getting over and pulling that match off with The Steiners because it was a perfect fit, perfect match." The Nasty Boys won the WCW World Tag Team Championship three times and the WWE Tag Team Championship once.
