Legendary journalist Bill Apter recently talked about two former WWE champions who may be stepping foot in the company again after a long time. According to him, the duo are already eyeing a particular tag team title.
The tag team in question is the duo of Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy, one of the most recognizable teams in WWE and wrestling history. The Hardys have combined won 28 championships in WWE, including Jeff winning the world title thrice and the duo winning the tag team titles nine times. While they are currently working in TNA, a recent collaboration between TNA and NXT may lead to them coming back to the active scene.
The stars were last seen together inside a WWE ring on the April 9, 2019 episode of SmackDown where they defeated The Usos to win the SmackDown Tag Team Title. However, they had to vacate the title after 21 days after Jeff Hardy was sidelined with an injury. Matt Hardy departed the company soon after.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's UnSKripted, Bill Apter recalled a recent interview he had with Jeff and Matt and stated that they may already be targeting the NXT Tag Team Title.

And like Jeff and Matt Hardy said, is that we haven't seen you know groups kind of not invading but just mixing talent up in a long time. And they got their eyes on the, possibly on the NXT Tag Team champions down the road. So this is great, and that's their entrée to get back on to the main roster, maybe for a few..." [19:36 onwards]
It remains to be seen what the Hardys plan to do next and whether WWE will play some part in it.
