Logan Paul's former rival took too long to rescue his fiancée, according to former WWE writer (Exclusive)

Logan Paul returned on WWE RAW this week and used Samantha Irvin to taunt his former rival Ricochet on the red brand. Wrestling veteran Vince Russo argued that the high-flying superstar should have responded quicker.

Paul made a massive appearance on the red brand, where he paired up with NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio to berate the latter's father, Rey Mysterio. The duo insulted the reigning United States Champion, following which The Maverick turned his attention towards fan-favorite ring announcer Samantha Irvin.

He referred to her with several nicknames before asking her to enter the ring. Paul then apologized to Irvin for SummerSlam 2023, where she had to announce him as the winner following his win against her fiance and RAW Superstar Ricochet. He demanded she announce him as the new United States Champion as a preview for his title match against Rey at Crown Jewel.

Irvin refused while Paul remained insistent, but they were soon interrupted by Ricochet, who attacked The Maverick. However, Paul quickly escaped with Dominik Mysterio, leaving The Human Highlight Reel frustrated inside the ring.

Vince Russo discussed the segment on the latest edition of Legion of RAW, where he claimed Ricochet should have rushed to the ring sooner. He argued that the former champion should have decided to go after Paul the moment Irvin was made to enter the ring.

“And the other thing I didn’t understand is what the heck took Ricochet so long to get in the ring, the second, the second Samantha Irvin is in that ring. The second she is going in between the ropes…” [58:53 – 59:22]

Logan Paul gets a huge title match at WWE Crown Jewel 2023

Logan Paul competed at Crown Jewel last year when he challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Although he couldn't dethrone The Tribal Chief, Paul earned appreciation from fans for his performance in the main event.

The Maverick will look to win a title this year at Crown Jewel, where he is set to challenge Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship. It is interesting to note that before Logan Paul, Rey successfully defended his gold against fellow LWO member Santos Escobar.

Although the faction stands firmly behind the United States Champion, Escobar has sometimes shown signs of discomfort, especially after losing the title match against his mentor. It will be interesting to see if Logan Paul remains the only threat to Rey in the weeks leading up to Crown Jewel 2023.
