WWE Superstars often spend months or years portraying the same characters in the Stamford-based promotion. Recently, a former two-time United States Champion and a major babyface in the company addressed a potential heel turn.
R-Truth has spent most of his career as a babyface wrestler in the Stamford-based promotion. Apart from one heel run alongside Little Jimmy and The Miz, Truth is a beloved character amongst fans, and it could be hard to watch the former United States and World Tag Team Champion accept the dark side.
In an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, the former United States Champion was asked about a potential heel run in WWE. The 52-year-old star stated that a selfish part of him wanted to do it, and it would be cool, but he isn't chasing after it because people wouldn't perceive him as a traditional bad guy.
“The selfish part of me would love to turn heel and be a heel, but the majority of me is like, I could never be a heel. People would think it’s cool if I did something bad, if I did something heelish, they would think it’s cool. I smoked a cigarette, and they thought that was the coolest thing on TV. To be a heel you have to get that real, genuine hatred heel heat. Mine would be more of like, they will want me to bash somebody’s head in. Selfishly, I would love to see it one time, but I don’t have to," Truth said. [H/T: CVV]
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
When was the last time R-Truth was a heel in WWE?
In 2011 R-Truth turned heel for the first time and went after John Cena and the WWE Championship. After he failed to win the title, he formed The Awesome Truth with The Miz, as the two stars fought against the system.
The two became popular as a duo and even faced The Rock and John Cena at the WWE Survivor Series 2011. However, his heel run came to an end in less than a year, and he went back to being a babyface.
In the coming years, Truth captured more titles and became one of the most loved babyface stars in the industry. It's been over a decade, and it'll be interesting to see if he would turn heel before finally hanging up his boots.
