Jacob Fatu shocked the wrestling world last week when he made his WWE debut on SmackDown by attacking Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens. A major name in wrestling praised Fatu, whom he called a "pretty legit" tough guy. This is none other than Dr. Tom Prichard.
The trio of Rhodes, Orton, and Owens had Solo Sikoa cornered when Fatu made the save. He easily attacked all three superstars, putting KO on the steel steps with a Samoan Drop. He then speared Orton through the barricade before hitting a Big Splash on Rhodes into the commentary table.
On the latest episode of Hannibal TV's Tom Prichard Podcast, the former WWE name was asked about his opinion on The Samoan Werewolf. The veteran is a big fan of Fatu, who he first saw in action at Major League Wrestling.
"Yes, I am. I saw him in MLW and became a fan instantly. He's athletic. He's a bada**. He knows how to work and I think he's going to get over like the Gang Busters," Prichard said. [18:46 - 18:57]
Fatu wreaked havoc at MLW and across different independent promotions before signing with WWE in April.
Jacob Fatu's rumored original name for WWE debut revealed
Dave Meltzer shared on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Jacob Fatu's original name was supposed to be Caesar Sikoa. WWE filed a trademark for the name a week before Fatu's debut.
"Caesar Sikoa was the first idea for Fatu's name, but they made the call to keep his Jacob Fatu name, which is surprising since it's his real name. …They do own the Caesar Sikoa name and it could be used by somebody else going forward, but it was trademarked last week for him," Meltzer said. According to reports, WWE filed a trademark for the "Jacob Fatu" ring name. The company also filed a trademark for the "Samoan Werewolf" a few days ago.
