Fresh faces continue to get added to the WWE product as we head towards Crown Jewel. A vignette recently aired hyping up the debut of Motor City Machine Guns (MCMG). However, Vince Russo wasn't too impressed by WWE's video packages.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are expected to make their debuts on SmackDown, and the company aired a vignette on the recent episode.
As seen on RAW, a vignette for Dragon Lee also played on the show, and while reacting to it, Vince Russo highlighted the underwhelming quality of the video pre-tapes.
Citing the vignette for MCMG as an example, Vince Russo argued that none of WWE's video presentations would get people excited over a particular talent. Russo labeled the vignettes generic and revealed the real problem:
"Not only that but when you see the Motor City Machine Guns vignette when you see the Dragon Lee vignettes. Do these vignettes make you want to see these people? They are generic wrestling vignettes. Why are you? Compare the Motor City Machine Gun vignettes to Val Venis. Why are you wasting that type of money when there is nothing in those vignettes wanting to make me see these people?" [52:10 onwards]
Vince Russo also warned that WWE needed to be careful about bringing in new talents. With a large roster, Russo felt the promotion must focus on who they actually wanted to push and avoid the risk of getting nobody over.
Motor City Machine Guns have been around for a long time, and it would be interesting to see how they get integrated into the tag team division.
