CM Punk had a rough night at WWE SummerSlam: Cleveland where he took his first singles loss in the company after nearly a decade. A major name was supposed to be at the show to support The Best in the World but could not make it.
Belal Muhammad has become a top name in fight sports after his UFC Welterweight Championship win at UFC 304. The 36-year-old fighter has trained with CM Punk in the past, and the two are good friends.
Punk recently took the time on WWE RAW to publicly congratulate Belal Muhammad for the biggest win of his career so far. It was a great moment for WWE and UFC who now operate under the TKO banner.
Belal opened up about wanting to team with Punk down the line. He added that he wanted to attend SummerSlam to see The Best in the World live in action, but his schedule didn’t allow him to do so.

“I want to be a tag team with Punk,” said Muhammad. “I was supposed to go to SummerSlam, but I went to Abu Dhabi for the UFC fight. I knew Punk was making his comeback and I wanted to see it, and then I saw Jelly Roll in the ring, and I was thinking, ‘Hey, that could have been me!’”
Jelly Roll had a top spot on the show where he hit Austin Theory with a single-arm chokeslam. The singer has talked about how it was a big moment for him as he’s always been a WWE fan.
Belal Muhammad could have gotten that spot, or the creative team could have used him during the match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make it to the show.
Belal Muhammad recently called WWE Superstar CM Punk his brother
CM Punk has helped many stars in the industry over the years. Belal Muhammad is one of the major names who haven’t appeared for WWE but has worked with Punk to sharpen his skills.
The UFC Welterweight Champion opened up about his relationship with the former WWE Champion in the interview. He called CM Punk his brother, and stated that they’re both from Chicago.
“That’s my brother,” said Muhammad. “We used to train together in Roufusport Milwaukee. He’s a good friend, he’s from Chicago, and any time we’re together, we’ll hit the stairs together or something and get a good workout in. He’s truly a genuine, good person. Seeing him give me that shout-out on Raw, that was epic. He’s always wanted to see me succeed."
Cora Jade, Roxanne Perez, and many other stars have credited CM Punk for helping them out over the years. It’s great to see that he has also been a great influence on UFC Welterweight Champion Belal Muhammad.
