WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry had a celebrated career with the Stamford-based promotion. The World’s Strongest Man has been part of several memorable segments in the company’s history and now, he is embarking on a new project with WWE.
Mark Henry has been chosen as one of the few superstars who will get a big tribute in the WWE Legends docuseries on A&E. The former World Heavyweight Champion spoke on The Angle Podcast about the honor and noted that he loved the experience.
“It was awesome. I look at it like, now, I’m living my life for statues. I want to be remembered. I want people to see the work that I’ve done and what I gave to the industry that I worked in and that I left them better than I found them. I don’t doubt whatsoever that it’s a possibility that I’m in multiple hall of fames, but it’s time just to do more."
The star continued, saying:
"I take a lot of pride in the fact that people appreciate my work and have gotten behind the things that I’ve accomplished. I don’t take it for granted at all. Every last one of those people that showed me some love and respect, I thank you, I truly do and I’m humbled by it. The arrogant prick was just an act.” [H/T - Fightful]
While Mark Henry is loving his feature on the docuseries and wants to be remembered, a fellow superstar wasn’t even aware that he was in the project. Moreover, he got a reality check from his tag team partner when he found out that he was in the docuseries.
When R-Truth reminded The Miz that he was a WWE legend
Before Mark Henry, The Miz had created a lot of buzz after the docuseries released an episode paying tribute to him. However, The Miz wasn’t even aware that he was part of the project.
Speaking to SHAK Wrestling, The Miz noted that he had just agreed to do the documentary without knowing the name of the project. But, when a trailer of his episode was screened on an episode of RAW, that’s when he saw that he had worked for the WWE Legends documentary.
“I've told other people this, the first time, I didn't know the name of this documentary. They were like, ‘Hey, can we do a documentary on you?’ I thought it was just called The Miz or documentary on The Miz. So, um, when the first time I saw the name of this show was I was in the ring with R-Truth and we were waiting for a commercial break to come back to us and that commercial was the A&E Biographies and it was like, it showed all the highlights. 'Oh, this is, this is my documentary. Oh, this is cool,' and at the end, it goes A&E Biographies: WWE Legends: The Miz. And I went to Truth. I went, ‘I'm a legend?’ And he goes, ‘Yeah dog, you're a legend.’ I never considered myself a legend.” [3:14 - 4:00]
The Miz has since received the praise of several superstars, including John Cena, who called him the most underrated superstar ever. It would be interesting to see which other superstars get a feature in the docuseries.
