Gunther won the King of the Ring Tournament earlier this year and will be challenging Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam next month. The Ring General and The Archer of Infamy had a confrontation last week on the red brand and traded words ahead of their World Heavyweight Championship match.
Ringside News is reporting that Gunther will be kicking off tonight's episode of WWE RAW. The 36-year-old will likely have a lot to say following last week's face-to-face with Damian Priest.
Gunther had a historic reign as Intercontinental Champion before he was defeated by Sami Zayn at WWE WrestleMania XL. The leader of Imperium held the title for 666 days but has now turned his attention to the World Heavyweight Championship.
Bill Apter believes Gunther and Damian Priest could have a great match at WWE SummerSlam
Wrestling veteran, Bill Apter was looking forward to the World Heavyweight Championship match between Gunther and Damian Priest at SummerSlam on August 3.
Speaking on a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's UnSKripted show, Apter said Priest and Gunther could have an old-school wrestling match at the premium live event next month. He noted that the two stars have worked together in the past and it could lead to something special at SummerSlam.
"I was mentioning this when we were taping Time Machine, that he [Damian Priest] and Gunther could be a classic old school wrestling match. The reason being they have been in the ring with each other for about 10 years, way back in Europe... The two of them should have a really classic good match because I think their natural instincts work with each other, and they have worked so many times together throughout their careers and I just, I have said this before but I just think that the respect that Damian Priest is starting to have from the fans is really great because he is a cool, collected World Champion," he said.
