Matt Hardy recently caught a stray remark on live television during Ohio State's win over Oregon in the 2025 Rose Bowl. Hardy responded to the same and wondered if he still had some "heat" with Pat McAfee, who decided to roast the former WWE Superstar during the broadcast unprovoked.
McAfee was one of the commentators for the 2025 Rose Bowl, which was also attended by former WWE Champion Big E. During the game, the camera panned on a couple of grumpy Oregon fans, prompting McAfee to say that one of them looked like Hardy.
In response to the roast, the current TNA Wrestling star implied that he might still have "heat" with McAfee stemming from a segment in 2019. Hardy once hit the ESPN analyst with a Kendo stick on the back, with Baron Corbin watching his friend suffer.
"Looks like there’s still heat," Hardy tweeted.
This happened when Baron Corbin supposedly convinced Matt Hardy to hit Pat McAfee on his back with a Kendo stick during the 2019 Extreme Rules Watch Party.
While the implication seems to indicate something serious, it is clear from the video posted by Hardy that he was 'in character' explaining why he had beaten Pat and McAfee's reactions were hilarious in response. This could be seen more as a jab at Matt by the former football star.
Matt Hardy teases potential WWE return, comments on RAW's upcoming debut on Netflix
On the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, co-host Jon Alba predicted that Matt Hardy and his brother Jeff, more famously known as The Hardy Boyz, will be returning to WWE in 2025. Matt seemingly agreed to it despite being under contract with TNA Wrestling currently.
The former ECW Champion also commented on RAW's debut on Netflix, and how it could affect the company in general.
"With Netflix, I think it is going to change the game for WWE around the world. I think they're going to continue to expand out to different new markets all across the world. They're gonna build bigger fanbases, there's gonna be new people introduced to wrestling every single week," Hardy said. [H/T - SportsTiger]
Matt last appeared in WWE in February 2020, signing with All Elite Wrestling afterward. Jeff, on the other hand, was released the following year and also went to AEW.
But after a tumultuous stint under Tony Khan, The Hardys returned to TNA Wrestling, where they are the current World Tag Team Champions.
