Matt Hardy recently gave out several year-end awards on a 2024 review episode of his podcast. Discussing The Young Bucks, the legendary wrestler explained why he would like to see the AEW duo in WWE one day.

Matthew and Nicholas Jackson are considered among the world's best tag teams. In 2019, they helped launch AEW as Executive Vice Presidents of the company. WWE previously had an interest in the tag team but a deal never materialized.

On The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy praised WWE for booking Motor City Machine Guns as Tag Team Champions shortly after their debut. He also encouraged The Young Bucks to sign with WWE to solidify their legacies in the wrestling business:

"I think you need to go to WWE and be successful to be looked at as one of the greatest of all times," Hardy said. "I'm gonna tell you, in a lot of ways there's a part of me deep down, because I do have so much love for Matt and Nick Jackson, I really wish The Bucks, when it was all said and done, that they could end up going to WWE and find success there too because I think they're a team that deserves that at the end of the day. Will that ever happen? Who knows. I would be happy if that happened for them." [33:19 – 33:45]

The Young Bucks have won the AEW World Tag Team Championship three times. They also held the company's World Trios Championship twice with Kenny Omega.

Matt Hardy reviews The Young Bucks' 2024

On the April 24 episode of Dynamite, The Young Bucks attacked AEW owner Tony Khan alongside Jack Perry and Kazuchika Okada. The duo also held the AEW World Tag Team Championship for 192 days in 2024.

Matt Hardy believes AEW could have told a better story after the moment with Khan. However, he still thinks The Young Bucks had a good year:

"They were the champs," Hardy said. "They had a real hot angle where it started where they had attacked Tony Khan and they were the first people to lay their hands on the boss, which was an interesting feat. I don't know how well that was followed through with, but they did have a pretty breakthrough year. They had a long championship run. They had some good matches." [32:25 – 32:43]

The Young Bucks have not wrestled since losing the tag titles to Private Party on a special Fright Night episode of Dynamite on October 30.
