"Maybe he's not a top guy" - Former WWE star shares honest thoughts about Cody Rhodes (Exclusive)

Cody Rhodes is one of WWE
Cody Rhodes is one of WWE's biggest babyfaces today.

Wrestling veteran EC3 recently opened up about Cody Rhodes, saying he might not be the next big babyface WWE has been looking for all along.

The American Nightmare commands some of the loudest crowd reactions in all of WWE today. Though he was heavily rumored to dethrone Roman Reigns as the Undisputed Universal Champion at WrestleMania 39, he ultimately fell short.

However, this didn't affect his standing as Cody is still involved in high-profile storylines and is the favorite to challenge Reigns again at 'Mania 40.

On the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 shared his opinion of the 38-year-old performer. The NWA World Heavyweight Champion stated that there's a chance Cody Rhodes might not be the next big babyface the global juggernaut was hoping him to be:

"Maybe, if all these opportunities and he's (Cody Rhodes) still not a top guy, maybe he's not a top guy. I don't know," said EC3. [From 11:10 to 11:16]

Konnan doesn't want to see Cody Rhodes as a heel

On the recent episode of his Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan spoke about Cody's growing popularity and lauded WWE for not rushing before crowning him. The wrestling veteran added that since The American Nightmare is at the peak of his popularity currently, it made little sense for him to turn heel anytime soon:

"Now he's come back after being in the competition [AEW], and I thought WWE was very smart not to give him the title too quick because the journey is half the fun," Konnan said. "So you're going on this journey with him to do something his dad never did, who by the way they also made fun of his dad with the polka dots. So people that know the backstory, there's something there. There is no reason to turn him heel right now. He's super hot."

Cody Rhodes recently had a short stint with the Undisputed Tag Team Championships in WWE alongside his foe-turned-friend, Jey Uso.
