Melina addresses possible WWE in-ring return

Melina was one of WWE's most prominent female stars between 2004 and 2011. In a recent interview, the 45-year-old gave her thoughts on whether she could wrestle for the company again.

In 2022, Melina participated in her first WWE match in over a decade when she entered the Women's Royal Rumble. The three-time Women's Champion and two-time Divas Champion also appeared on RAW Reunion and RAW Legends Night episodes in 2019 and 2021, respectively.

Asked about a possible return, Melina told MuscleManMalcolm she is not holding out for an offer:

"I do wanna get in shape for me, and if it happens, it happens. If the universe has it happen, yeah, but I think more so I'll probably end up traveling again, doing small stuff. I think maybe that's what's on the cards because I really don't have my hopes up for WWE or anything like that." [8:00 – 8:19]

Joey Mercury and John Morrison's former valet has competed for several other companies in recent years, including the NWA and TNA.

Why Melina is unsure if WWE wants her

According to Melina, WWE does not speak enough about the legacies of female wrestlers Jazz, Lisa Marie Varon (aka Victoria), and Molly Holly.

Melina also believes the company is more interested in focusing on modern-day wrestlers rather than performers from past generations:

"I just think they have their space for their current stars, which they should. It's their time, and would they invest in especially a female like me, I don't know. I am [a legend], but some GOATs [laughs] out there, like a Jazz, like a Lisa Marie, people aren't acknowledged. Even like Molly Holly, she should be acknowledged more than she has." [8:19 – 8:49]

In July, two-time Hall of Famer Booker T said Melina was "truly the best" wrestler of her era.
