Ambrose was Rollins and Roman Reigns' stablemate. The trio known as The Shield terrorized the WWE roster for several years and initially worked as mercenaries for Punk. The Second City Saint was victorious over The Shield in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match at the TLC 2013 Premium Live Event.

After debuting in 2012, members of The Shield simultaneously held championships on the main roster. Rollins and Reigns held the WWE Tag Team Championships and Ambrose held the United States Championship.
The faction eventually split after Rollins betrayed the group in 2014 in favor of Triple H's Authority. However, they reunited on a few occasions down the road before Ambrose eventually departed WWE and signed with AEW.
Ambrose, now known as Jon Moxley, continues to work for Tony Khan's promotion. Meanwhile, Rollins and Reigns have established themselves as top superstars in WWE. The two even crossed paths at WrestleMania XL with Seth Rollins playing a vital role in Cody Rhodes dethroning Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
