WWE Superstar Seth Rollins has been a mentor to many up-and-coming stars in the company. Among them, Dominik Mysterio had the opportunity to face The Visionary in his debut match four years ago. The third-generation superstar recently shared surprising claims about his legendary father, Rey Mysterio's opinion during his first-ever bout.
Even though Dirty Dom debuted at SummerSlam 2020, he has been appearing on WWE TV since he was a kid. The 27-year-old collided with Seth Rollins in a Street Fight during the ThunderDome era at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
Despite valiant efforts, Dominik Mysterio fell short in his debut match against the former WWE Universal Champion. However, since then, the third-generation superstar has risen to prominence, capturing the SmackDown Tag Team Championship once and the NXT North American Championship twice.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, the Judgment Day member was asked to share his two cents on his first match against Seth Rollins. Dominik Mysterio expressed gratitude for the unique opportunity he received and recalled WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio's initial skepticism regarding his readiness. However, recognizing the rarity of such an opportunity, the Latino Cheat seized the moment without hesitation.

"It's definitely different than everyone else. I'm super thankful for the opportunities, because something like that doesn't come very often. I remember specifically my dad telling me he didn't think I was ready. I don't know if it was because he just had never seen me in the ring, I don't know what it was, but I knew that I wasn't going to get presented with another opportunity, at least like this. So I jumped on it right away," Mysterio said. [H/T - CVV]

Dominik Mysterio comments on walking out of Rey Mysterio's WWE Hall of Fame ceremony
At the 2023 Hall of Fame ceremony, Dirty Dom decided to pull a stunt while maintaining kayfabe. Alongside Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest, he disrespected his father by abruptly leaving the stage during The Master of The 619's speech.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, the former NXT North American Champion stated Rey Mysterio's induction into the WWE Hall of Fame was premature. Dominik Mysterio said that his father doesn't deserve the honor until he loses a match to Dominik and relinquishes his iconic mask.
"Took him long enough. I still don't think he was worthy of it. [The walkout] It was necessary, yeah, now that you bring it up, I do remember walking out, yeah, I think it was because I felt some type of way. I don't believe he deserved to be in the Hall of Fame, at least not yet. Once he loses to me and gives, gives up his mask and stuff, then maybe, but I have no say in it," Dom said.
Despite defeating Rey Mysterio in tag team matches, Dirty Dom has yet to accomplish the feat of pinning him in a singles match. Only time will reveal whether Dominik Mysterio will be the one to retire the WWE Hall of Famer.
