An ex-WWE star has expressed interest in returning to the Stamford-based company after nearly a decade. The person in question is Layla, who is a former Divas Champion.
The 47-year-old star also held the WWE Women's Championship in 2010. She was part of a tag team with Michelle McCool known as LayCool. Layla retired from in-ring action in 2015. Her last match was against Paige, now known as Saraya, at a live event in July of that year.
During a recent appearance on They Made Their Way To The Ring podcast, Layla disclosed that WWE wanted to bring her back for the Women's Royal Rumble Match in 2022.
"I was asked to one. I do remember it was a legends one. I was asked, but at that time I was completely shut off. I haven't watched Evolution. I will look at it. I watched the Royal Rumble that I was asked to be part of when Kelly Kelly and Melina came back. I did watch that one," Layla said. [H/T Fightful]

Natalya wants to see a LayCool reunion in WWE
WWE Superstar Natalya wants to see Michelle McCool and Layla back in the Stamford-based company.
In an interview with Ring The Belle several months ago, The Queen of Harts heaped praise on Michelle McCool and said she wants to see a LayCool reunion in WWE.
"Every time Michelle has come back, she is in amazing shape. She comes back and she kicks a*s, she's got it like, I think Michelle McCool could come back and have a great run. I think she's really, really, really talented. I learned so much working with Michelle McCool and Layla. I would absolutely love to see a LayCool reunion, and both of them, they really helped me grow a lot when I was first starting out in WWE," Natalya said.
It will be interesting to see whether Layla will be an entrant in the 2025 Women's Royal Rumble Match.
