SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis recently shared his honest opinion on the crossover between WWE and TNA Wrestling. He also heaped praise on the 28-year-old Jordynne Grace.
At Battleground 2024, Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace faced Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's Championship. Although it was a closely contested match, Perez ultimately scored the victory by taking out her opponent with the Pop Rox. Ash By Elegance and Tatum Paxley interfered in the bout, inadvertently influencing its outcome.
During an interview on Gorilla Position, Aldis mentioned how great he felt about the crossover between the two companies. He further praised Grace for her incredible performance at NXT Battleground. The National Treasure also appreciated Triple H and Shawn Michaels for making it possible.
"I feel good about it. I don’t know much about it, truthfully, so I can’t speak too much to it. I thought Jordynne Grace put in a tremendous performance. She’s probably a lot of the driving force behind the whole relationship because once you have a talent like that, a promoter, which Hunter and Shawn are, they are looking at it like, ‘I don’t care how we have to get it done, I want that person on my TV show.’ A lot of times, that’s the genesis of a lot of working relationships. I certainly hope that there can be more between WWE and TNA." (H/T: Cultaholic Wrestling)
Nick Aldis on whether he would return to the ring
Nick Aldis enjoyed much success as an in-ring competitor in TNA Wrestling, the NWA, and other independent promotions before joining WWE. Since signing with the global juggernaut, he has yet to compete inside the squared circle.
During the same interview, Nick Aldis said he was unsure whether he would return to the ring. The National Treasure further mentioned that he was currently focused on being the best general manager in WWE.
"It's not something I have any control or influence over. It's very much a case of, when Paul [Triple H] and I first started speaking, I made it very clear that 'I want to be part of the team and contribute in whatever way you think is best.' If, at some point, [getting in the ring] is best then great. The GM conversation was the shortest conversation of my career. Bruce [Prichard] called me, 'General Manager of SmackDown.' 'Great, when do I start?' They laid out the terms and money, 'All sounds great. Let's do it.' Immediately, I said to my wife [Mickie James], 'I'm going to try and be the best GM of all time.' That's all you can do," Aldis said. [H/T: eWrestlingNews]
It remains to be seen whether Nick Aldis will be booked to compete inside the ring. Regardless, he has gained immense popularity as SmackDown's general manager.
