Nick Aldis gave Kevin Owens an ultimatum on SmackDown. He could face severe consequences if he doesn't comply.
Kevin Owens faced Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event. During their match, the referee got knocked down and couldn't count the pinfall for Owens. A second referee came out, but it was too late. This only infuriated the Prizefighter.
Moments later, the second referee also got knocked down. Kevin grabbed a steel chair to use on Cody Rhodes but was stopped. Instead, the American Nightmare hit his signature Cross Rhodes on Owens, and the first referee recovered in time to count the pinfall. As a result, when the show went off the air, Owens attacked his former friend and hit him with a package piledriver. While Cody was being attended to by medical personnel, Owens took the winged-eagle championship and left the arena. The Prizefighter has since claimed to be the 'rightful WWE champion.'
Tonight on SmackDown, Nick Aldis addressed the situation around the Owens. He said that Owens is not the right WWE Champion since Cody beat him. He added that the winged-eagle champion was presented to Cody as a sign of trust and does not belong to Owens. He offered the former Universal Champion the ultimatum to return the title by the end of the night or face dire consequences that could impact his career in WWE.
"Kevin, you have until the end of the night to relinquish the winged eagle championship belt or face immediate and severe consequences that will directly impact your future at WWE. This is not a negotiation," Aldis said.
It will be interesting to see if Kevin Owens will comply with Nick Aldis and relinquish the winged-eagle championship belt.
