Gunther and Damian Priest are set to collide at the WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event this weekend. However, wrestling veteran Vince Russo believes that the crowd has no interest in the rivalry between the two.
The match was set up after The Ring General won the King of the Ring Tournament in May 2024. The feud has gotten heated up in the last few weeks, with Gunther taking shots at hardships Damian Priest had to face in his early life.
Despite the animosity between the two being at an all-time high, Vince Russo stated that he believes the crowd has no interest in their feud. The former WWE head writer detailed the reason behind his statement on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW:
"When they got to the very end and it was Gunther and Priest and they were fighting. What did you see? All you saw was this- [people on their phones]. That’s all you saw. They are taking pictures so they can show them to people at work tomorrow. They don’t care what’s going on. If you’re into something, you’re not on your phone because you don’t wanna miss it. That’s telling you they don’t care." [From 1:10:08 onwards]
Damian Priest has been holding the World Heavyweight Championship since WrestleMania 40. However, The Ring General looks like the favorite heading into their match at WWE SummerSlam.
