The WWE Universe is buzzing in a major way after the company presented its sixth Crown Jewel Premium Live Event today from Mohammed Abdo Arena in Saudi Arabia. The seven-match card included lots of chaos, historic championship victories, and more than three hours of hard-hitting action. Fans have immensely praised one of today's title matches, and a certain Hall of Famer agrees.
LA Knight has retained the WWE United States Championship for the fifth time since dethroning Logan Paul at SummerSlam. Crown Jewel saw the former Eli Drake defeat Andrade and Carmelo Hayes in a Triple Threat Match with the title on the line. The match went just over nine minutes, and saw all three competitors trade finishers. The Kid looked to put El Idolo away, but Knight intercepted with BFT for the pin to win.
The Megastar just passed the three-month mark in his first reign as champion, and many fans seem to be cheering for this run to continue. Sportskeeda Wrestling's Senior Editor Bill Apter believes there was nothing bad about Andrade vs. Hayes vs. Knight. The 2011 NWA Hall of Famer praised the challengers but pointed to how popular the champion is.
"Nothing negative about this match. Off the charts energy as the broadcasters said several times. Lots of high-flying action with LA Knight retaining in an 'This is awesome!' chant match. Andrade and Hayes did an excellent job but WWE is not ready to take the U.S. honors from the hugely popular LA Knight yet," Bill Apter said.
Knight has retained Shinsuke Nakamura at recent non-televised live events, and that feud has been rumored for TV in the near future. Andrade and Hayes still have their Best of Series going after last week's 3-3 tie-breaker ended in a No Contest due to The Megastar, who was the special referee.
