Pete Dunne has thankfully reverted to his original name after going by the name of "Butch" for a few years. He blamed a WWE legend on the NXT Great American Bash Week 1 for giving him a "terrible" nickname.
Pete Dunne and 46-year-old WWE legend Sheamus have been feuding on RAW. The nickname instantly made many people take him less seriously, although he did have a fun run with The Brawling Brutes. In all likelihood, Vince McMahon, who was the head of creative back then, came up with that name mostly. However, they obviously couldn't mention that on TV.
On Week 1 of NXT's Great American Bash, Pete Dunne cut a promo ripping into Sheamus for giving him the "terrible" nickname.
"The first time in my life that I turned to somebody for advice, I got stuck with a terrible nickname [Butch]. And a front-row seat to the Sheamus Show. You'd be bitter too," he said. [0:20-0:35]

He would state that even Ridge Holland ran away when things got tough while his partner Tyler Bate was on the shelf due to an injury.
Following his recent attack on former NXT Champion Trick Williams, the two will face off next Tuesday on Week 2 of the Great American Bash, which will follow up one day after the post-SummerSlam episode of RAW.
It looks like Dunne is trying to get his redemption.
